Congratulations! We have made it through the first quarter!
This quarter has been full to the brim with exciting events and topics that we have studied. I am so proud of everything that the students learned and accomplished during this quarter. They are all working so hard and have learned a lot!
We finished our study of the book Holes the week before last and will be moving into our unit on poetry next week. In the meantime, we worked on summarizing and understanding non-fiction texts. In doing this, we learned about Malala Yousafzai, who is an AMAZING young woman fighting for girls' rights and human rights around the world. I hope that your child shared some of what he or she learned about her this week.
We also have just wrapped up our study of early North Carolinians- Native Americans and the first European settlers in North Carolina. Students wrote fantastic news articles sharing what they have learned about how life used to be for North Carolinians. In November, we will be returning to studying science and will be looking at the moon and solar system.
Thank you everyone for getting field trip permission forms and money turned in! Our field trip is THIS WEEK!! I hope that you are as excited as I am! I will be going over details about the trip this week and will be sending home important information about the trip with your child. Please be sure to look over this information. Your child needs to be at the school by 7:15 and will need to be picked up by 4:30. I will go over with them everything that they should or should not bring on the trip.
Report cards will be coming home soon. They have been pushed back and will be sent home on November 10.
I hope you all enjoy your day off tomorrow! I will see you on Tuesday!
