Hello and Welcome to 4th grade!!
We are so glad that you are going to be in our class this year! We have a lot to learn and are excited to get started.
This year, we will be teaching using a co-teaching model. Ms. Droege will be the fourth grade content teacher with Ms. Anne providing language and content support for all students. The students will be placed in different groupings based on what they need and what they already know. So your child may get to work with many of the fourth grade teachers throughout the year. This model of instruction makes sure that all students are receiving targeted instruction on their specific areas of need.
At Green, we are a project based learning school. This means that throughout the year, students will engage in various projects to guide their discovery of content and apply their new learning. During these projects, students will have the opportunity to collaborate with their peers and grow in their leadership skills.
We are working as a school and district to make transportation to and from school as painless as possible. Please have patience with us as we are working out the kinks in the system. Your children should know how they are getting home from school and we will be giving all students tags to wear on the bus. If there is ever a change to how your child is getting home, please send a note or call the office.
This year, we will not be giving written homework assignments. We will ask that all students read for 20-30 minutes a day. This can be by themselves, to you, or to siblings. Instead of homework, please talk to your child about what they learned today and give them time to relax and play outside. If you have any questions about this policy, please feel free to ask.
It is school policy that we cannot give up class time to celebrate birthdays. If you would like to send in a snack for your child’s special day, we are happy to distribute that snack at lunch. Please only send food that was purchased at a store and be mindful of food allergies.
